Aim
The purpose of the Dag Hammarskjöld’s Backåkra Foundation is for Backåkra to function as a museum in honour of the life and work of Dag Hammarskjöld. Backåkra should also be a meeting place to promote research and work in areas of interest to Dag Hammarskjöld.

Museum
The Museum hosts parts of Dag Hammarskjöld´s art collection and many gifts which he received as Secretary-General of the United Nations. Many gifts are from countries grateful for Dag Hammarskjöld's work. His private study will be recreated.

The Museum hosts exhibitions and programmes. Parts of the exhibits will rotate during the year.

The Museum includes a shop and café.
Conference facilities
The wing of the farm called the ’Academy wing’ is available as a meeting place for organisations, companies, researchers and others who work with issues close to Dag Hammarskjöld’s legacy. This part of the house is not open to the public.

UN Security Council met at Backåkra
Dag Hammarskjöld´s Backåkra welcomed the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the members of the Security Council, on April 21-22, 2018.

We are proud that this meeting was the first to be held at Backåkra after it was reinaugurated in March. This is a clear example of how the legacy of Dag Hammarskjöld can continue to be carried forward at Backåkra.
